The California Redwoods
I would leave Friday morning from the San Francisco Bay area take U.S. hwy101 north travel about 230 miles through the giant redwoods. Some places I suggest to stop along the way; Willits - take a ride on the Skunk Train and Leggett - check out the Peg House. This is one the most beautiful drives in northern California. I would stay at the Benbow Inn (a beautiful bed and breakfast inn) just south of Garberville just for a night. Lots of fishing as there are six rivers and the ocean. If you like to camp there is the Redwood state park nearby.

When in Eureka, check out Oldtown; lots of neat old shops and places to eat including Lazio’s for seafood and the Lost Coast Brewery, a great micro-brew. Go across the samoa bridge and check out the cookhouse for breakfast, an old style lumber jack breakfast. GO to Ferndale for a day to see where some movies were made.
